Globally, the banking industry has been one of the most profitable of enterprises. Banks have controlled and directed the economy and like any under-regulated business, there is a price to be paid. While Washington tries to determine what to do to help homeowners keep their homes and consumers to afford to pay their bills, it is the consumer that is struggling to put food on the table while Government bails out the Banks. Again who pays that price? That answer, obviously, is the consumers. The banking industry sometimes forget that you are their customer and that you are giving them your business.
Once they have you as a customer, how fairly are you being treated? A lot of consumers end up feeling as if they are in the business of pleasing their bank as opposed to the other way around. The Law Firm of Bonnie L. Canty P.A. is comprised of professions that understand the banking industry. The industry has been very successful profiting off people that struggle with their finances – be it with mortgages, credit cards or a checking account. But now many banks are targeting "good" customers that have perfect records. For example, some banks charge their clients to have access to online banking. Online banking saves the industry loads of money, yet many banks are charging for this service. How often do you even need to walk into a bank these days? Fees have become commonplace but exceedingly hard to track. Just ask the consumer advocacy group, The U.S. PIRG. (The United States Public Interest Research Group) why they have not posted what was once an annual bank fee survey since 2001. Others are increasing minimum payments and interest rates on credit cards.
